Sharpstown High School

Sharpstown High School, located at 7504 Bissonnet Street in suburban Southwest Houston, is comprised of Grades 9 through 12 and part of the Houston Independent School District.

SHS opened in 1968 as Sharpstown Junior-Senior High School, but separated from the junior high at 8330 Triola Lane and moved into a new building two years later near the intersection of Bissonnet and Bonhomme Road. The 1970 building was razed in 2018; its replacement, currently home to 1,855 students, is located just west of the old site at Bissonnet and Braeburn Valley Drive.

Elementary schools that feed SHS include Bonham, McNamara, Milne, Neff, Sutton, Valley West, and Ed White. Middle schools are Fondren, Jane Long, Sugar Grove, and Welch.

SHS fields interscholastic teams in baseball, basketball, cheer, cross country, football, soccer, softball, track and field, volleyball, and boys wrestling.

Principal T.J. Cotter is in his second year with the Apollos. He has served HISD as principal of Fondren Middle School, and assistant principal at Woodson PK-8 Leadership Academy and North Forest High School. Cotter began his career as a reading and social studies teacher at Gregory-Lincoln Education Center.
